At Rodenstock, we recognize people as individuals, with eyes of different shapes and sizes. Consequently, we are the first to measure and determine the parameters of the entire eye using thousands of data points and develop lenses tailored to the biometric parameters of each individual eye. Our motivation is to provide people all over the world with the best progressive lenses. We are not satisfied with the standard – we always go one step further.

THE OLD NORM
Today, the traditional eye test usually includes only four prescription values. The use of only these four prescription values means that the biometric parameters of each eye remain undetermined. It does not take into account that each eye is different – in its shape and refractive capabilities. The standard values fit only 2% of eyes.
This has led us move away from the old norm and provide sharper vision to more eyeglass wearers by increasing the biometric precision of lens calculations.
OUR SOLUTIONS
AN APPROXIMATE BIOMETRIC EYE MODEL BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Rodenstock measures the length of an eye as accurately as possible when calculating eyeglass lenses. The length of the eye is crucial for ensuring that the lenses can be individually tailored to the eyes of the spectacle wearer.
By identifying correlations in the data and incorporating them into an advanced AI algorithm, Rodenstock is able to move away from the old standard for lens calculation and set new standards for lens calculation that allow us to create an approximate biometric model of the eye using only the standard prescription values.
WEARERS’ EXPERIENCES WITH B.I.G. NORM™
To investigate the benefits of Rodenstock’s AI-powered B.I.G. NORM™ lenses, we conducted a study and asked people who need to wear progressive lenses to test our new AI-powered lenses. They then compared these lenses to their old lenses. The differences were clear:
