Proper cleaning of spectacles.

Generally all spectacles with premium coatings from Rodenstock are finished in such a way that they can be cleaned with a standard microfibre cloth.

We recommend you avoid dry cleaning and instead clean spectacles under warm running water with some washing-up liquid and then dry with a microfibre cloth.

Avoiding scratches.

With dry cleaning dust particles which are on the lens are rubbed into the lens causing scratches.
Scratches also arise from cleaning with coarser fabrics, such as a T-shirt or tissue.

Incorrect cleaning should be avoided as scratches or other damage cannot be removed from plastic or mineral lenses. Even if the flaw only appears cosmetic, light disperses through the microfine scratches and irritates the eye.

TIP:
Your spectacles should undergo intensive cleaning at your Rodenstock partner optician every 6 months. A few minutes in the ultrasonic bath is all it takes to restore your lenses and frame to their original beauty.
Protecting the coating.
The coatings from the Solitaire® 2 range make your lenses water-repellent, dirt-repellent and anti-reflective.

External factors may have negative impacts on the coating of your lenses.

Therefore, protect your spectacles against unusually high temperatures above 55 °C and high humidity. Avoid, for example, putting your spectacles down on the dashboard in a car parked in the sun or wearing your spectacles in the sauna.

Furthermore, no solvents (.e.g. alcohol, acetone or other aggressive chemical cleaners) should be used to clean spectacles.
